Elecampane has an invigorating scent, almost making it obvious it is used for lung complaints. It has been considered a lung tonic, specifically useful for clearing out phlegm and mucus, and is said to be helpful for asthma. It is also thought to be useful for clearing mucus in the digestive tract. Elecampane is considered to be high in inulin, which can feed good beneficial bacteria and can aid in digestion. Elecampane has been used to help some with blood sugar stabilization and is said to enhance immune function.
