Cool, acrid and bitter. Anti-inflammatory, diaphoretic. 
Bupleurum has been used in the past for a variety of liver complaints, from mild to more acute conditions. It has been added to the allergy blends both for its liver stimulating properties and its ability to lessen a stuffy nose from allergies. Along a similar line, it has been used to fight off a cold or flu. Bupleurum is considered a go-to herb for liver congestion and regulating the chi in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
