Astragalus has been highly regarded as an immune strengthener and potentiator. Traditionally, it has been beneficial for weakened individuals, and those recovering from long, drawn out illnesses. It is said to strengthen digestion and increase metabolism. It has been used as an adaptogen, antiviral, diuretic, antioxidant, and to promote tissue regeneration. Traditional Chinese Medicine has used astragalus to lessen the deleterious effects of chemotherapy. 
Avoid during acute stages of colds and flus.
